Spitfires Above The Clouds Black And White metal print by Gill Billington.   Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

Artist's Description

©Gill Billington. All rights reserved. Two spitfires, photographed in black and white, flying above the clouds en route to Normandy in France to commemorate the D-day landings of 6th June 1944 in Operation Overlord.

They were part of the aiir support for the troops from all the allied countries that landed on the beaches to begin the liberation of France from the Nazi occupation. Sadly there were at least 10,000 casualties and 4,414 were confirmed dead. Such a terrible loss. May they never be forgotten.
