©Gill Billington. All rights reserved. These orange brown and white funky fungi were growing on a fallen tree log in a woodland. There really is beauty in decay. The sky photographed during the golden hour just after sunrise with the tree fungus on the textured bark in close up gives a surreal look to this image.
With the help of Stefan Buczacki, an author and gardening and natural history expert, I have found out it is called Polyporus squamosus which is a basidiomycete bracket fungus commonly called Dryad's saddle or Pheasant's back mushroom.
