©Gill Billington. All rights reserved. Rumour has it that the famous Highwayman, Dick Turpin from the 1700s once lived in this Medieval cottage in Thaxted, Essex, UK. There were many stories written about his exploits, so of which were works of fiction. It is true however that he was executed for his crimes in 1739. Whether he lived here in the cobblestone street or not, it is worth seeking out to see the wonderful Medieval architecture in this picturesque town, shown here in black and white.
