©Gill Billingtom. All rights reserved. Opposite Buckingham Palace is the Queen Victoria Memorial, a wonderful London landmark which at the base has statues and fountains. In the background is the majestic building of Buckingham Palace, the formal residence of the Queen with it’s gold topped fences and gates with the gold royal seals. The union jack flag of the United Kingdom is flying on the roof which denotes that the Queen is in residence at the time.
This photograph shows a close up of the bronze statues in the foreground, representing Naval and Military Power reclining on top of the marble base with a brass panel continuing the naval theme with a mermaid and merman. Military power is represented by a soldier with a helmet and sword. Naval power is represented by a woman with a seashell headpiece, protecting a ship in her arms.
